Contributions and membership

1) VOTING RIGHTS

All contributions, regardless of amount, will be registered in the name of the donor so it is important to give us your complete address. When your contributions reach $100 you will receive a Foundation membership card that will allow you to attend our annual meetings where the number of your voting rights will be equal to your total contributions divided by 100.

2) TAX CREDITS

The HFQ is recognized as a "charitable public foundation" empowered to give income tax receipts under the number 84870 6743 RR0001. At the end of our fiscal year, December 31st, receipts will be sent to all donors whose contributions during the year total $25 or more. These receipts grant tax credits which may be claimed within 5 years. Federal tax credits are of 16% for the first $200 and 29% for successive amounts. Provincial tax credits being of 24.5% in Quebec, donor in Quebec can recoup almost half of his donation back in tax credits from the federal and provincial governments in the case of large donations..

3) HOW

3.1) You can make your contribution by sending a cheque payable to the Humanist Foundation of Quebec to 380 St-Joseph East, Montreal, Quebec, Canada H2T 1J6.

3.2) You can also make an inter-bank transfer to the Humanist Foundation of Quebec account number 85399 at the Mount Royal branch of the Caisses Populaires Desjardins whose branch transit number is 815-30197. The bank transfer method provides the possibility of making automatic monthly contributions from your bank account. All contributions will be registered in your name and you will be welcomed as a member of the foundation once these contributions reach $100. Each additional $100 contribution will result in another voting right.

3.3) You may also use the instantaneous Pay Pal (an e-bay company) payments system to send your contribution directly into our "DonsPayPal@lfhq.org" account by clicking on the button to the right. This method of sending us money by internet is easy and completely secure. It's the perfect way to send a spontaneous donation to the foundation. You don't even need to have a Pay Pal account, the system accepts credit cards. (Click on "click here" in PayPal). How it works is explained here.

3.4) And finally you may also contribute to the HFQ and to the future Humanist Centre of Montreal by legacy or by naming the foundation as beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
